INSIGHTS

The person I most wanted to be when I started was...
Arnold Schwarzenegger, but then it quickly changed to Jay Cutler. Now I simply want to be a role model and a great representative of the sport.

The person I owe the most to is...
My wife Melanie. She supports me in every way possible, no matter what. She also helps me become a better person each and every day.

The supplements I can’t live without are...
Multivitamins, probiotics, ZEUS, SUB•Q, whey protein isolate, PURPLE•K, OMEGA•OIL, AGENT•M, SHUT•EYE.

The best thing about training is...
The incredible feeling I get from it – the releasing of stress, feeling tight and pumped and being in a focused state of well-being.

Two things I would change about bodybuilding are...
I would put more emphasis on natural bodybuilding. Too many people want to be mass monsters and are willing to sacrifice their health to achieve it. The other would be respect. It takes a lot of dedication, education and knowledge to achieve a great physique – not just brawn but brains too.

My ultimate goal is...
To help others achieve their fitness goals, and to someday get my pro card as a natural bodybuilder.

One thing every gym rat should know is...
You can always learn from others. Just because you work out a lot, that doesn’t mean you know everything. Keep an open mind.

Years I’ve been training...
About 10 years.

Last new bodybuilding thing I learned...
That a contest-prep-specific, ketogenic diet does work with my body type, although a carb cycle diet works the best for me!

The one question I’d ask a pro is...
With all the sacrifices you’ve made, has it all been worth it?

The thing I hate most about stepping up onstage is...
Wearing those posing trunks. Don’t like it at all.
